Car Doesn't Start Right Away
If that doesn’t work, move it back to “park” and try it again. When starting the car the ac compressor wont come on right away most of the time when you first start the car the ac compressor will not come on for for 3 to 5 minutes.
The car won’t start, and there’s no click when you turn the key.
Car doesn't start right away. We have already put the cooling fan/ ac control relay under the hood near the battery, the fuse box on top of the battery was burnt up and the ambient temp sensor nead the wiper cowl. You could rip the whole fuel tank off the car and throw it up in a tree and the starter would still spin the engine until the battery went dead. If your car turns on but won’t start, turn on the dome light and watch it while you try to start the engine.
But if the pressure is low, it does not mean the pump is bad. With your foot on the brake, move the shift lever to the neutral position and try starting the engine. Even in the newest cars, this guess can be a little skewed and your car may fail to start right away.
Start with a check for trouble codes. You may have a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or clogged injectors. Don’t start the car, just turn the key on and off a few times to let the fuel pump prime ( the lines are dry) and then try to start it.
All three must be check before replacing the pump! If the starter isn't engaging to turn the engine it isn't related to fuel. (or poor connections at one of these parts).

If the car clicks when trying to start, but still won’t start, this can be caused by a weak battery, dirty battery terminals, a worn starter motor or a stuck solenoid. Or have to turn off car and try again. Well, there could be several causes of car having trouble starting, and you need to check everything from the fuel system to the starter motor to.
On the other hand, if you hear a clicking sound, but still the engine doesn’t turn on, it means your battery is weak or there is a poor connection between the battery terminals. Why vehicle doesn't start right away have to hold gas pedal down to start. If i choose not to hold the key in the start position but rather just try to start it a second time it will always start right away.
If this doesn’t help, bring to a mechanic. Once it has been started, it has no trouble starting up again shortly after it was turned off. I put zip ties and it upped my idle speed to 1000 from about 500 rpm.
Sometimes the car doesn't start right away. Other times it takes longer. When it fails to restart, you need to be checking what is missing.
In the video his car starts right away but sometimes mine does not and i have to hold the key in the start position for a few seconds until it cranks. Check your gas pedal see if its floppy. Here are a few tricks to try if the car doesn’t start:
Joined aug 11, 2008 · 357 posts. Tomorrow im going to drive it. Bad connections at the battery and the easy first place to start.
Starts when plugged in but anything below zero no. If that does not fix it, then you may well have either a defective starter, or a worn out ignition sw. I also used car starter fluid in intake.
My car wont start right away, it cranks and after a lot of cranking it will finally fire up. Only sometimes i have to hold gas pedal all the way down to catch and normally after i have driven a short distance, cut off and then come back out and try to start it wont catch unless i hold gas pedal all the way down. A plugged fuel filter, a pinched line, and low voltage at the pump can contribute to low fuel pressure.
Dont overthink this one, it is a common problem. If it does start it dies right away unless i rev car doesn't start after getting gas! Discussion starter · #1 · aug 14, 2008.
Any ideas of what it could be? Car wont start right away, but cranks. If nothing happens and the car doesn’t start, it could mean a dead battery, a broken starter or even a faulty ignition system.
